The Public Noticing to your neighbors will have a scheduled Public Hearing date on it.  You will also be notified of the date for this hearing, which you  may attend.  The hearing allows the opportunity for your neighbors, who might be impacted in some ways by your project, to voice their concerns to the Planning Department.  Whatever comments made at the hearing may or may not affect your project.  Normally, none of the comments that would force you to adopt stricter standards than the typical zoning ordinances will be heeded.  It is usually only those parts of your project that may be more subjective in nature, such as Architectural Review might involve, or issues specific to your project and not typical of others, that may force revisions to your design.  Architectural review of single family residential projects is normally limited to specific zones.  Please check with your local Planning Department to see if you are in one of these types of zones.
