Use Permits A Minor Use Permit may also be known as a Conditional Use Permit, or just a Use Permit. This is a Planning Department permit that you may be required to obtain before you can even apply for your Building Permit. Sometimes these can be applied for simultaneously, but not usually, and not without risk. Design changes may be required by the Planning Department, forcing re-review by the Building Department.
