Impact Fees

This will be part of your building permit fees for new construction.  This will not typically be part of the fees for an addition and/or remodel project.  For new construction, this can be far and away the largest chunk of the required fees.

The thrust of these fees is to account for the "impact" your new project may have on public services such was water, sewer, roads, fire protection, etc.  Each new project puts more strain on these public services, as opposed to an existing project for which these services are already being provided.

You should be able to obtain how much these fees will be from your local jurisdiction based on preliminary plans, or at least the rough square footage, of your proposed project.
