Floor Plans A floor plan is essentially the same as a cross-section (a slice through the building) but it is a horizontal cross-section of your building shown in a 2- dimensional format. Typically this cross-section is taken at eye level and would show all the things you would see at that level. But the basics would include walls, windows, doors (including all of the dimensions of these), built-in cabinets, and plumbing fixtures.
